Moving Assets Between Business Managers Without Losing Access

KKathy Carter

Pages, ad accounts, and pixels cannot always be moved between Business Managers as easily as files between folders. Each asset has its own ownership rules, so the transfer needs to be planned carefully. Meta does not provide one bulk option for transferring every asset. As JustAnswer's advertiser Q&A covers well, the receiving Business Manager generally requests access to each asset and the current owner approves it. For ad accounts, the ownership process may include a 14 day confirmation period. AGrowth's ownership-transfer guide describes the notifications and approvals involved. Two restrictions often surprise teams. A personal ad account cannot be transferred in the same way as an account already owned by a Business Manager. In addition, moving or sharing an ad account does not automatically move its pixel. The pixel must be handled separately or conversion reporting may stop after the account changes ownership. Meta may also require a person to remain an administrator for several days before that person can become the primary owner. This security delay means a transfer should be prepared in advance rather than scheduled for the day an agency or employee leaves. Before starting, check that the ad account has no unpaid balance or active restriction. Record the current owners, administrators, Pages, pixels, catalogs, and payment methods so each item can be confirmed after the change. bm2500 provides a checklist that can help with this review.
